Prisoner al-Rajbi rearrested soon after his release

Palestinian prisoner Munir al-Rajbi was rearrested on Sunday soon after his release after he completed his 20-year prison term.

Al-Rajbi was rearrested while on his way to the West Bank city of al-Khalil, where he was supposed to be deported after his release. He lived in Haifa in 1948 Occupied Palestine before his imprisonment.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Israeli authorities decided to deport Jerusalemite prisoner al-Rajbi a few days before completing his prison term.

The Knesset had approved the decision to withdraw citizenship from Palestinian prisoners of 1948 Occupied Palestine.

In 2019, the Jerusalem ID of al-Rajbi, who has been detained since 2003, was withdrawn.

The 50-year-old al-Rajbi was sentenced to 20 years in prison for charges related to sheltering the Palestinian resistance fighter who carried out a shooting operation near al-Ibrahimi Mosque.
